Who Are Human Rights Defenders?
HRDs can be community leaders, lawyers, journalists, trade unionists and / or anybody who works peacefully to promote or protect the human rights of others. These people demonstrate amazing courage to stand up for the rights of others despite facing the most terrible risks. In turn Front Line Defenders focuses all of its energies on trying to provide practical and immediate support to improve the security of these brave individuals. The organisation aims to provide this practical and immediate support through security grants, training and lobbying, and also strives to address the protection needs identified by the HRDs themselves.
